As an experienced specialist systems integrator supplying control and safety solutions to the global energy sector, including the floating and fixed offshore wind sector, most of our projects in this arena are for major clients in Europe. Therefore, with the recent announcement of UK government investment, we are keen to monitor developments within the UK’s floating offshore wind sector, to ensure we can be involved in any future offshore wind projects within the UK.
The recent government announcement of a grant of over £55 million from the Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS) for the expansion of Scotland’s Port of Cromarty Firth is a major investment in the offshore wind sector for the UK.
Thanks to this investment, the port is set to become a major hub for the UK’s floating offshore wind industry. The expansion will make it the first port in the UK able to make floating offshore wind turbines at scale and on-site. It will assist in the creation of hundreds of skilled jobs and generate growth within the area, which in turn will help boost work within the UK offshore wind sector.
