Nuclear energy
The demands of the nuclear industry
Using our experience in health and safety, environmental and quality management systems, we provide support for the exacting requirements of nuclear facilities. Nuclear facilities face ongoing challenges with ageing, obsolete components and legacy equipment. Combined with licence renewals, extending the long-term operation and maintenance of obsolete instrumentation and control systems may not be a cost-effective and reliable option.
The UK government’s aim to reduce emissions to meet a net-zero target by 2050 involves many challenges, as it will need to ensure the generation of greener and more sustainable energy by looking at new technologies.
How we support the nuclear energy industry
We supply replacement instrumentation and control systems that provide increased functionality, with enhanced support, operation and maintenance within the sites.
Our experience includes supporting emergency gas turbine control systems that have been upgraded to replace the legacy OEM systems.
Our nuclear energy project experience
- Fire detection and fire suppression systems
- Gas and steam turbine control systems
- Fuel control systems
- Generator control
- LV switchgear
- Integration of electrical sub-systems into SCADA with IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 61850 compliant networks
Granted status with the Nuclear AMRC Fit for Nuclear programme (F4N) since 2017
Our Granted status has enabled us to benchmark our organisation and operations against the standards required to supply the nuclear industry with new build, operations and decommissioning projects.
