Industry collaboration solves the CAP437 compliance conundrum

Proeon and Lowestoft based, Sembarine SLP have joined forces under an MOU, to offer the operators of offshore assets the only current comprehensive solution to the impending CAP437 - 7thEdition revisions. By 2016, operators on the UKCS with installations having fixed helidecks are required to comply with the latest standard, which will include the installation of an LED illuminated Circle & H, and a Deck integrated Fire Fighting system (DIFFs).

For a typical solution, Sembmarine SLP will offer clients the complete certified installation of the LED illuminated circle-H, DIFF nozzles and pump skid all integrated to a Proeon developed control solution. This will provide Dräger based video flame detection, with optional CCTV functions, and operation of the helideck lighting, all tied into the platform’s ESD if required.

Sembmarine SLP working in collaboration with Proeon, firmly believes this solution is the first step to provide a safe, cost effective and comprehensive answer to the soon to be enforced helicopter operation safety system changes.

The collaboration will be showcasing the solutions at a special event to be held on the 29thof January, at the i2 Building, 210 Union st. Aberdeen, SLP offices.

ISO9001:2008 and 14001:2004

Proeon Systems are delighted to announce that we have successfully achieved both our ISO9001:2008 and new for this year, ISO14001:2004.

We’ve had our ISO 9001:2008 certification for three years now, which was a relatively easy process when we were a much smaller company. Now Proeon is at the heady heights of nearly 30 personnel, with defined departments, and enhanced management systems, we are pleased to see another audit successfully achieved.

To add to this achievement, we’ve also been on the path way for the ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management certification, which was also awarded this month.

So what do these two certificates mean?

Well, as a client you are assured that Proeon Systems carries out all projects and works following structured Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems, with defined procedures, work instructions and policies developed to protect your people and our people against risk from poor practice, H&S, and environmental considerations.

Proeon is dedicated to continuous improvement and will follow the ISO standards through our business.

More New Faces

Proeon is pleased to announce, albeit a bit late, that we’ve added a few new members to our team in the last couple of months; Les Thomas, Matthew Cole and Stephen Appleby.

Les, heads up our expanding CAD department, with the ability to develop 3D animated renditions of our builds, right through to 2D line drawings of circuits and assemblies.

Matthew joins Les in the CAD department as a seasoned CAD engineer, increasing our CAD and design capabilities.

Stephen, will be supporting our growing Test & Validation team in our new purpose built Test Workshop which includes a specialist ESD protective environment room for ESD testing of equipment and project builds.

And as of the date of this press release, we’re still recruiting, so if you’re interested in a working in this exciting company, click here for more information on the roles available.

New Projects

It has been a busy week at Proeon HQ. Last week we were delighted when we received a total of 3 purchase orders with a combined value of over £600k comprised of a single order of £345k from one of our newer clients. This order forms a third part of a larger project in the Sub-Sea and Workover sector that Proeon was awarded earlier in the year. This latest section comprised of Safety System development and we will deliver both bespoke software and a sizeable hardware build based on Rockwell and Beckhoff componentry.

Further orders were received for 2 complete North Sea Gas platform Fire & Gas Control Panel Systems based on the fantastic value SIL 2/3 SCAME Sistemi F&G panel. These platform fire & gas systems are scheduled to be installed and commissioned by close of the year.

If you wish to know more about our bespoke control systems and fire & gas system solutions, please feel free to call one of our team or complete the form on the contact us page.

Proeon Outgrows Offices... again!

For the third time in 2 years Proeon Systems is forced into lifting, lugging, sweating, and sliding furniture, computers, printers, and paraphernalia into new premises.

The big advantage is that the move is only along the corridor. This marks another key stage in the business development with expansion enabling the recruitment of further engineering staff to fulfil significant projects. Proeon has been at the Hethel Engineering Centre for the last 4 years and has become the biggest tenant at the centre. Recruitment in the last month has seen 2 further CAD Engineers, and 2 further Engineers for Software and Hardware.

Proeon's contact details have remained the same, so feel free to give us a call to discuss your requirements: 01953 859 110.

Showtime...

Proeon is choosing to kick-off the 2014 Event Season by having rather an unusual presence at the East of England Energy Group’s annual bash, the Sea of Opportunity.

This year’s event is to be held at one of East Anglia’s premier venues, The Royal Norfolk Show ground, just outside of the picturesque city of Norwich. Proeon have had a show stand at this event before, but this year is different.  Dr Dorian Hindmarsh, Proeon’s Business Development Manager said “This year we are celebrating ten years of business for Proeon, so we thought we should do a bit more than previous years. We’re building an impressive display, code named the Police Box, and show goers will be able to see live demos of Scame Sistemi Fire and Gas detection, Gas Turbine control systems and other specialist control systems while having a complementary coffee and nibble on stand in our hospitality lounge.”

Proeon will be on stand A34+ at the EEEGR two day event, so come along and meet the team, and maybe even pick up a Proeon goodie.

Team Growth

It's only the first month in 2014 but already there are new faces around the place.

For those who missed it in the back end of 2013 Proeon’s commercial team has grown with the appointment of Simon Wexler as our Technical Sales Engineer. Simon joins us with a comprehensive background including more recently being Software technical consultant to Rockwell Automation. Simon will be supporting the commercial team in such areas as client liaison, proposal drafting and pre-project support in both Aberdeen and Norfolk.

January saw the appointment of James Doggett who joins the Proeon Team as Projects Engineer. James will be managing a wide range of client projects utilising his skills honed over a number of years in the control and automation arena. James has comprehensive knowledge of most major manufacturers control solutions.

For more information on Proeon’s capabilities and how we might support your project, call or email us today and we’d be happy to talk to you.

The new website is on its way... sneak peak!

Well here at Proeon Towers we're hard at work doing the finishing touches to the new Proeon System's website ahead of the official launch with coffee on tap, and a packet of cookies to consume on the 1st of December is looking likely. Unfortunately that does mean that the old website is starting to make less sense than normal as data is ported, updated, and uploaded to the new site offline. But as you can I'm sure see from the sneak-peak above the new site (LHS) is a lot slicker and matches our new promotional materials, and business direction.

Watch this space...

Proeon in Aberdeen!

After opening our new Aberdeen office we feel it is only appropriate to host a modest introduction event for our Aberdeen neighbours.

The event, to be held at the Malmaison Hotel, on the 30th of October will be a good opportunity for an after-work drink courtesy of BrewDog Brewery (soft drinks also available) and a bite to eat.

The evening will be a chance to meet key Proeon staff and hear what Proeon offers in control solutions. Presentations start at 4pm with complementary buffet and drinks from 5:30pm.

As spaces are limited please contact Will.

Another wave of recruiting!

With Summer well and truly under way, there is an eager anticipation in the air here at Proeon HQ! Not only have we had the excitement of Royal babies, summer BBQ's and scorching weather there is even more excitement on the horizon. The new website will be up and running by the end of summer, with increased functionality and some nice pictures to show the world what we are doing. On top of all this the team continues to grow! Proeon are looking for another three people to join our fast growing and forward looking company.

We're looking for experienced Control Systems Design Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and a Technical Sales Engineer. Experience in gas turbine control or F&G systems is a distinct advantage for the technical roles. All roles are based at our offices at Hethel. Interested? - then contact us. Know someone who might be? - then pass on our details.

Refreshing change...

Well it has been a little while, but we're giving the Proeon Systems website a bit of a refresh. As more of our clients look us up on line and we direct interest from other media for example; Twitter, LinkedIn etc the information we portray on the website and how you the reader interface with it has to be reviewed. Later this month we'll be altering the website subtly to include our core offerings, Consultancy, Systems, and Services, and within those areas we’ll have an easy to use description, example and download, to guide and enlighten the reader.

The refreshed website will have new images and information on the growing team; we’ve moved on a lot since we started nearly ten years ago with just Kevin and Eddie. We’ll also have and area dedicated to our growing business in Fire and Gas panels thanks to the exclusive licence with Scame Sistemi. We’ll still have all the great News and Twitter feeds, but with a fresh look which we’re sure you’ll be happy to see. So why not save us as a ‘favourite’ and keep checking back to see the changes…. You can even ‘like’ us on facebook as well!!

The Apprentice

You must have noticed in the media that the government is promoting the very thing that industry has known for years, the apprenticeship.  Proeon has been supporting this venture for some time now without Sir Alan Sugar and a BBC tv film crew. Utilising the successful ECITB scheme, Carl Hanley was hired as the Proeon Apprentice last year, and is undergoing his education training at the renowned EAGIT centre in Norwich.

“This scheme gives me the opportunity to work in industry, gaining valuable experience, while formally receiving qualifications” said Carl Hanley, Proeon’s 2012 apprentice.

Kevin Magee, MD of Proeon commented “Apprenticeships are the future workforce, and you have to be aware of the skills shortfall that exists without making the investment.”  For more info on apprenticeships check out http://www.ecitb.org.uk/ and http://dev.eagit.org/

Taking to the High Seas

Proeon Systems is pleased to announce that it has recently been awarded contracts by multi-national organisation Orwell Offshore.

Orwell offers Naval Architecture services to all sectors of the marine industry, and has a strong specialism in Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.

These new contracts range from site surveys, through to electrical design support for vessels in Norwegian waters and the Indian Ocean.

FPSOs present a complex mix of processing, power systems, storage, accommodation and subsea controls. Each step in the handling of the tie backs requires the same level control and safety as found on a fixed rig or land based facility, with the added risk of a moored floating asset.

Projects like these highlight the flexibility of Proeon to adapt to client’s needs either offshore or office based.

If you would like to know more about some of our survey and design services, please email dorianh@proeon.co.uk to discuss your needs.
