Proeon Work Experience Programme Update

Proeon are very pleased with the progress of the participants in our work experience programme, they have been engaged on this programme at Proeon’s facilities over the past 2 weeks. (11-22 July)

The programme began with an induction into Health & Electrical Safety at Proeon, preparing them to begin their journey with us.

We had prepared a Demonstration Video to introduce them to what they would experience during the programme, this was accompanied with a “User Requirement Specification”, to enable them to familiarise themselves with what they would be designing during the next 2 weeks.

Working under the supervision and guidance of our Lead Test & Validation Engineer, they have completed  the designing, manufacturing and testing of a railway crossing simulator using Siemens S7-1200 PLCs and TIA portal.

The Programme took them through the overall process involved in achieving a successful working prototype.

Following Proeon’s internal processes, we took them through the steps they would be required to follow in order to undertake the design of electrical schematics and input/output schedule; leading to them wiring the panel to their own design; undertaking electrical testing utilising Proeon’s internal testing regime.  This was then followed by them designing and writing ladder logic software to control their prototype of the railway crossing simulator.

Proeon’s CAD team were also involved with the students  to enable them to finalise “as built” drawings.  Finally they have spent time with our Project Management Team to give them a flavour of how things all fit together.

Adele Moore of UTCN visited Proeon half way through the programme to see how the students were progressing, she was both pleased and impressed with the programme.

Over the 2 weeks we have noticed the students grow in confidence and ability, they have all completed the programme successfully.  Well done to all of those involved, we wish the students all the very best for their future engineering careers.
