Encouraging STEM for the new generation

Proeon Systems Ltd supporting STEM skills development for the new generation of Engineers.

Proeon Systems Ltd are proud to have supported the ECITB whilst they have been delivering the STEM Challenge in four Norfolk high Schools. The challenge saw the students working in teams to design, cost, build and market a pipeline structure to carry Oil or Gas from platform to shore. The winning teams from each School were then selected and invited to take part in the grand finale, which was held at the University Technical College Norfolk (UTCN) on the 19th November 2015.

During the finale, teams of had to develop the commercial idea which was set by Smallpiece.

The teams who competed in the challenge were from Fakenham, Attleborough and the UTCN, and the aim of the challenge was to test many of the STEM skills required to work within the Engineering Construction Industry.

Matt Knights, Account Manager at ECITB said, “The ECITB works with Schools each year to attract young people into engineering construction careers. We were delighted to be supported with this by Proeon Systems Ltd, who gave an insight into the work they do in the industry. A fantastic event which saw children from years 8, 9 and 10, highly engaged in a hands on activity to design, build, cost and market, a lifting structure for the nuclear industry. My thanks to Proeon Systems for supporting the event and inspiring our future engineers’.”
